LESLIE D. WEINBERG started taking pictures of the island of Palm Beach in 1982 as a cub reporter and photographer for the Palm Beach Post, followed by a stint at the Palm Beach Daily News. Leslie then published her first book of black & white photos of the island, which propelled her career in photography. She opened a portrait studio in South Beach, Miami in the early ’90s meeting many artists and film makers leading to a job in Paris as a studio intern at Elle Magazine, and free-lancing for ARTnews and other European and American publications. Returning to grad school to study film Directing at Columbia University in the early 2000’s, Leslie made several short films and documentaries and then returned to her photo roots in West Palm Beach, where she is taking photos, writing and planning her next series of photo books for Aker Press.
BARRY ZAID has reinvented himself many times as an innovative and versatile graphic artist, illustrator, and designer, first in his native Canada at the University of Toronto and then in London in the 1960s where he was a frequent contributor to the London Times and Vogue, as well as doing the very first album covers for the Beatles and Led Zeppelin. Then in the 1970s at New York’s Push Pin Studios where he did 7-Up ‘Uncola’ graphic billboards and numerous covers and illustrations for New York, Sesame Street, and other publications. He also designed the box of Celestial Seasonings Mandarin Orange, still sold in stores today. His book, ‘Chicken Little’ was honored with the Gold Medal from the Society of Illustrators. He has taught design, illustration and art history at the School of Visual Arts, Parson’s School of Design, Virginia Commonwealth University, and the Miami Ad School. He currently lives in San Miguel de Allende where he is completing a children’s alphabet book and a retrospective on his first 50 years of art, as well as working as design consultant with Aker Press.
